Operational scope, training outline, and documentation standards

1) Mission & Scope
  • Provide BLS care within LVFR jurisdiction.
  • Operate under San Andreas EMS protocols and confidentiality rules.
  • Maintain readiness, professionalism, and accurate documentation.
2) Response Protocol
  • Acknowledge dispatch within 60 seconds. Use Code 1–3 per nature.
  • Confirm unit, crew size, capabilities, and ETA on radio.
  • Wear PPE. Use BSI. Stage if scene is unsafe.
3) On-Scene Operations
  • Primary assessment: Airway, Breathing, Circulation, disability, exposure.
  • Interventions in EMT scope: O2, bleeding control, splinting, bandaging, CPR/AED, naloxone (per protocol), epinephrine auto-injector assist, MDI assist.
  • Reassess vitals every 5–10 min as condition dictates.
4) Transport & Transfer
  • Safe lifting, packaging, loading. Secure patient and equipment.
  • En-route monitoring and updates to receiving facility if required.
  • Verbal and written handoff on arrival; confirm acceptance.
5) Documentation
  • Complete ePCR / forum PCR: date/time, location, chief complaint (OPQRST), SAMPLE, vitals, interventions, response.
  • Attach device times (AED shocks, meds) and signatures if applicable.
  • File incident number in station log and training tracker if used for skills credit.
6) Training Handbook Outline
  • Foundations & Ethics • Communications & Radio
  • Airway & Ventilation • O2 Delivery • Suction
  • Medical: Cardiac, Respiratory, Neuro, Endocrine, Toxicology
  • Trauma: Bleeding, Burns, Musculoskeletal, Spinal precautions
  • Operations: Ambulance safety, MCI intro, HazMat awareness
7) Evaluation
  • Module quizzes; final written exam; scenario stations.
  • Skills: patient assessment, CPR/AED, bleeding control, splinting, O2 setup.
